Is School Really Necessary??

Sabrina, had her first trip the the Emergency Room today...shes fine :)

This afternoon I noticed a red rash on the right side of her face and she kept having this white discharge from her eye. When she woke up from her nap she came out of the room... when I saw her I GASPED!!!! LOUD!!!! (not my best parent moment). Her eye was completely shut and swollen, it looked horrible!!!
After I washed her face, I threw clothes on both of us and took off to the Quick Care down the street, it was 4:05 and they closed at 4:00 I got in the door and asked if there was anywhere else I could go....the Emergency room was the only place that would be open. I was so mad I was almost in tears.
as I was driving away I thought to myself "why did I leave? I should have just sat down and refused to leave" but then I guess being ignorant would not have helped the situation LOL LOL.

We were only at the Emergency room for a little over and hour!!! well... she has pink eye in both eyes. My eyes have been itching all day so I am sure I have it too.
To top it all off, the medication is not drops,but an ointment!!! I have to put it on the inside of her eyelid, the nest week will be fun times.

Hate is such a STRONG word,but I am not liking school right now. Every other parent I talked to today laughed, and said "you haven't seen anything yet".
being a parent is STRESS :)

I'll keep you posted, she is a trooper, and seems to be feeling fine. the real sad thing is that Monday was going to be her first field trip to Anderson dairy,but she needs to stay out of school until at least Wednesday the doctor said. I felt so bad she got ice cream after the emergency room. Maybe I will keep telling her "today is Saturday,no school for the next few days" LOL

I've got issues I'll admit it

....I'm sure some of you are saying I have more than a few. Lord only knows what made me say "oh let's google our business name,because we have nothing else we should be doing" (I have more issues than I thought referring to myself as more than one person)

so long story a little shorter... I found one of my products featured on a blog , signaturesterling showed a picture of a set of my burp cloths and gave a link to my shop. after seeing that, I was hoping not to be surfing around one day ad find a blog totally slamming me LOL.

It did make my day,it's always nice to know people like what you are doing. :)

A Day of Crafty Goodness and "HIJK"

Sabrina and I got up super early this morning so we could work on the letters "HIJK" before we went to Henderson to deliver an order. my plan is to start a new set of letters every two weeks, but Sabrina's plans may be different LOL. We have the letters that she is working on taped to her door,and every time she goes in her room she has to identify the letters and trace them with her finger. twice a day she write the letters. I have been trying to make it fun and games...so far,so good. She loves it, "mama I went in my room again"!

so after we drooped off the package this morning we went "thrifting at Goodwill and Savers, but no big finds there. stopped by my FAVORITE fabric store Quiltique. My walking advertisement wore one of her hats I made (two orders!!) so I taught her that when someone says "where did you get your hat"? she says "my mommy made it,she ROCKS!" LOL it was sooo funny.

We went to the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts to see Robbie at her studio. her and Laurie did an awesome job finishing up their space here are some photos, their studio is called "wired and stoned" can you figure out which one is wired and which one is stoned? LOL both of them do jewelery, Robbie does a lot of wired wrapped work and Laurie does some fabulous pieces with large stones (cute name huh:)

The grand opening is going through Sunday so go check them out, there is a lot of unique work,and it would be a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Did you think I forgot you? No Way!!!!It has been a busy few days, Yesterday my best bestest Friend Amy and her hubby came to town for their anniversary ( a billion years). I have known Amy since I was about seven years old and it's just CRAZY!!! that she is married and has little ones of her own... I remember staying the night at her house, going out in her blue Geo Storm......Sorry an unexpected trip down memory lane.

My fried Robbie came by yesterday also for a crafty "play date".. I don't know who had more fun me or Sabrina. Today I got my serger back from the shop for the third time!!! I sat there for three hours waiting for it to get fixed, I was not leaving again without it. The entire time I was there the guy continued to tell me how generous he was being and not charging me..!!??!!? I said "well that's nice since I paid the two times I was here last week" some times I can't help my big mouth. All is well so far.

Screen Printing Indie Style

I have been working on some more screen printing with my handmade screens (Homemade- they leave a lot to be desired in the looks department).

This screen is the first one I made using an embroidery hoop and mode podge. it works great, I tried this because I did not want to mess around with photo emulsion, but I have since change my mind, I think the emulsion is faster and I can get thinner lines.

Tonight I am working on some screen printed baby hats, and I am making up the pattern as I go, so we will see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

Nothing Like A Day With Crafty Friends

Today I met with my friend Robbie at the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts . I have not been there since the building was getting set up. It looks amazing! I was so jealous that I did not have a studio there. Each artist has their own studio to work and sell their art. While looking for my friend Robbie,I ran into another friend Gina her shop looked great!! I love her work here are a couple of pictures I took of her and her studio.

Next week I will be going to help Robbie "Robbie" her space, I am soo excited !!! she makes funky fabulous jewelery. I Will post more pictures next week when we get done.

Next weekend (January 23-25 2009) is the grand opening for the Southern Nevada Center for the Arts, please go out and support the arts in Las Vegas :)

Hello, my name is Rochelle and I am a child briber

I had to resort to bribery today to get some photos taken of my apron dresses. Sabrina was watching her favorite show, Yo Gabba Gabba, and I was ready to get photos taken so I could get busy. So mama pulled out the BIG GUNS...... CANDY!! It worked.....did you have any doubts.

This kid loves the camera, I think I could have got her without the bribe. We got the photos done and I posted some new items in my ETSY shop.

I am going to need glasses soon I am on the computer so much, I have been getting to bed about 2am and getting up at 5:30am. This online business thing is a HUGE job in itself, it is making setting up and tearing down at craft shows look like a picnic.

OK.. time to go rest my eyes for a minute and kill my ears watching American Idol. I usually don't watch the first two weeks, it breaks my heart to see dreams CRUSHED,KICKED,and STOMPED ON!!!! Unfortunately I Do get a laugh or two at their expense.

I was sooo productive yesterday

The key is NOOO TV!!! I swear somehow I manage to talk myself into "OK ,I'm just going to sit down and watch till' the next commercial" A WHOLE TWO HOUR MOVIE LATER! I get to work. Do that several times a day and you're done for LOL.

So, yesterday I got out the ipod downloaded all my favorite crafty pod casts and got busy. there is something to be said about getting motivated by people who have managed to turn their crafty businesses into a big deal, and I am watching a movie.

I got five new hats done,but I did not get them list in my ETSY shop until today.

It would not be my life without some kind of mishap..... I am ironing the interfacing on the last piece of fabric,ready to move on to the next step.......AAAGGGHHHHH!!!! I open the steamer and my interfacing is stuck to fabric plate cover!!!! I flipped it on the wrong side!!! but trying to be more positive for 2009, I was just happy that it was not on the top plate, I did that before and scrubbed for days. At least with this I took it off and kept moving.

I am off to go make myself a list of what I need to get done tomorrow. I forget half of what needs to go on the list just looking for a pin ( My memory is not what it used to be) Some days I'm Lucky if I remember my name.

Sabrina Rockin' Her New Hat

So I have been working on new stuff all day, and at 7 p.m. I decided I wanted to get some pictures of Sabrina wearing her new hat... BUT FIRST... I had to tackle the hair gone wrong (from being sick) and that involved some tricks....

Me: Sabrina,want to get your picture taken?

Sabrina: yeah!!!
Me: go get your hair box

Sabrina: are you gonna brush my haaaaiiiirr?

Me: do you want to look like Hannah Montana?

Sabrina: YEAH!!! With my wig??

Me: uuuhhh NO

So I told her she gets to be a rock star like Hannah Montana...... it worked, she sat still and took some great shots in about five minutes!!!!

Tomorrow my goal is to finish at least 4 more hats ( and dare I say get them list on ETSY too)...we shall see.

I have been working on new product

I will have to take a pic of Sabrina wearing hers when she gets well...speaking of getting well Sabrina is feeling better today( she was feeling so bad this morning she didn't even ask about school), still has a little bit of a fever off and on ( the Motrin worked Amy)

Inspired by my clean craft studio

I am so sorry for taking so long to post ( and I heard about it from several of you:)

I have been working on some new things for this year, I have had the supplies for screen printing FOREVER and they were just buried in my craft studio,but now since it's clean, I am going to start using a of these great things I have.

So it has taken me several days to get my screen exposure time right,but I finally got it to work. I have several more that I want to create,but I think I will make the screens bigger,it did not give me much wiggle room. here are some pictures of what I have been doing so far.

I have been nursing a sick little one all day (high fever). No school today,and I hate to be the one to tell her she can't go tomorrow either,and believe me there will be tears.

I have also been working on a new pattern for my toddler hats, I had A LOT of trial and error today (I gave the seam ripper a real workout). I think I got something I like,if I get a chance I will post some pictures tomorrow.
