Home Sweet Home

This Weekend was FABULOUS!!! but it is good to be home. I know I said I would post on Saturday, but We were at the hotel finishing more product!!!!! Yes sales on Saturday were great and lucky for me I brought some blank plates. Me my mom and my brother were working late into the night to finish up. we finished 20 more plates and sold all except 3.
Those of you that know me well know my booth is ALWAYS packed with crafty goodness, but by the end of Saturday my booth looked sparse. Everything on the wall in this picture was sold, we took the plates that were sitting and hung them on the wall, that was my brothers good ideas :
it did show customers that the plates would hang.

Sabrina was SOOOO....... good this weekend!!! she was such a trooper, a little bit of crying ( over nothing), a little bit of falling while standing still ( the kid has two left feet) but all and all no problem at all, she even took a nap each day on a blanket in the park. I was a little worried on the drive up.

Sabrina: "mama are we at the crap show"?

Me : "NO"

Sabrina: " Mama is this the crap show"?

Me: "NO, and it's CRAFT show"

Sabrina: "mama where are we going to sweep (sleep)"?

Me: a hotel

Sabrina: " Mama do hotels have T.V.'s"?

Me: "no ,we are going to sit around and stare at each other".

Sabrina: "Mama do hotels have bathrooms"?

Me: " no we have to go outside in the woods"

Sabrina: "Mama bears live in the woods!"

This went on for hours!!! hence my answers getting crazier by the minute.

I have to get ready for Art in the park this coming weekend, and fill orders from Candy Dance. no sweep :) for me.

Wish me Luck

I am in Northern Nevada for the Candy Dance Craft Fair, I set up my booth most of the day. I must say I am pleased with how it is turning out. I have an EXCELLENT space! I am soooo excited to see the crowds tomorrow. Sabrina has been such a trooper, she played all day, I have an arsenal of healthy snacks to bribe her with. Here is a teaser picture of the start of my booth, excuse all of the boxes and stuff lying around still.

I am sitting here in the Motel room,Oh excuse me! did I say room?I mean closet, and Sabrina will not go to bed because she is being nosy, so more pictures tomorrow.

wish me luck.

My Crafty Future

I have been soo craft busy lately and yesterday I decided that need to make more room for my craft business. At the Las Vegas Crafters Guild meeting I announced that I will step down as president in 2009. The Guild was started three years ago and I have been president for the past two years, we have gone from six members to over forty. I thought I would be so happy to say I am letting this go,but now I just have this sick feeling like I just dropped my baby off in the woods and said good luck.
I have put so much of myself into this group and really want to have a part in helping to grow the craft community in Las Vegas. I feel like the members do not appreciate the countless hours Crystal (vice pres)and I put into the organization. It is not about praise, but at least show up to a meeting.UUUGHHH!! do I go or do I stay? do I just want to stay because it's my baby?

I do have some other business Ventures in the works with some friends and don't want to wear myself to thin... ok who am I kidding? I thrive on being worn to thin!

OK my friends help me out here.

I have the smartest child in the world!

I know the rest of you THINK you do.......... but I really do :)

Ok, seriously how did you like the lead into my funny story of the day? Sabrina and I went out shoe shoping with my mom today (for Sabrina) this kid wears a size 13 shoe at three years old! I a growing a giant!! OK OK on to the story..... So I am standing in the store and I try on this nice Jacket, and my child says "mama you look sooo distinguished" WHAT!!!!! MY eyes got so huge, what three year old uses the word distinguished correctly in a sentence???

She told me I was the best more in the world three times today, I need to record it,because when she is a teenager, I sure that will not be the case.

Fabric Makes Everything Better

Yesterday some of the new Fabric I ordered came in!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE FABRIC!!!!!
and these skull prints are fabulous! I should have a couple of more boxes coming in this week. I don't have time to work with it because I am prepping for My the 87th Annual Candy Dance Craft Show in Genoa Nevada this weekend. This show is eight hours from home but, well worth the drive in past years, I have gotten calls from customers to make sure I am going to be there, and placed their orders early. sooo the fact that I have several large items sold before I get to town makes me more excited for the show.

I am racing around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to get things done. Crystal and I spent 5 hours yestersday completing sale logs and cutting checks for vendors, I spent two hours completing the agenda, and creating a list of 2009 Board positions for the Crafters Guild meeting today. WHEW!
I'd better go get busy on some crafts

OH! I almost forgot! We got space assignments for the Boulder City Art in the Park craft show in two weeks, I got a fabulous space !! it is on the corner next to the gazebo where all the action is.
things are starting to look up in "craft land"

Another Bummer craft show day

OK, so I guess you can't win them all,but winning one day would have been nice. We did not have any customers,ok that's an exaggeration...but not much. it was sooo pitiful! I did not even take pictures of my booth! I was sooo rushed I did not even get half of my product out.

I did have a couple of my die hard customers come out and show their support, it does feel great to know that people follow my shows ( it really feels good on BUMMER show days).

I did trade my Friend Autumn a bunch of hair bows for Sabrina, I was informed that I was neglecting her,by not putting bows in her hair.

I always have fun with my crafting friends, selling or not,but I think I love money more than them....just joking....or am I ?????Mooowahahahaha :)

I am going to rest tonight, blog stalk a few of my favorite blogs,a and watch army wives. tomorrow is is new FABULOUS crafting day.

A Sad Day in Craft Land

Today was the first day of our Crafters Guild Craft show, and the foot traffic was soooo slow. we don't know what the deal is??? we put ads in the papers, sent press releases, passed out a billion flyers, mailed to a large mailing list. The good news is that the people that did come bought from vendors, and since the show is central check out, over all sales were great ( I was shocked due to low attendance). very few of those sales were mine :(, but my crafting buddies know how to turn slow times into fun for all..... we discussed some of the "new product" we need to make, we will be coming out with a line of slow economy survival kits, we will include Ramon noodles, mac and cheese ( the cheap brand with powder cheese) we gave ourselves a good laugh with all of our crazy ideas. I hope tomorrow will be better, I will have to keep you posted.

one thing that our show competed with this weekend was balloonapalooza, although we did not go to this our house is near the site of the event. Friday Morning I was out side in the yard and saw the hot air balloons, I called Sabrina out and she was so amazed and excited, it was soooooo cute, they flew right over our house and landed in the school yard down the street. Here are a few pictures.

LOOONG day of working

I have been working on new product all day today. My living room is FILLED with finished plates here is a picture of one of my favorite. ( I would have taken a picture of all of them, but along with the plates are boxes, bubble wrap, and everything else I have been working on) My house is a scary place to be right now.

I also finished some lights today, I LOVE LOVE LOVE making these! I make them out of found items, old tins, sifters, cheese graters.... no two are exactly alike, I finished five today that have a baking theme like this one. I will have them for sale at my Craft show this weekend:

Saturday, 9/20/08 10 am to 6 pm
Sunday, 9/21/08 noon to 4 pm

Location: Heinrich YMCA

4141 Meadows Lane

Las Vegas, NV 89107

I'd better get to bed, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow (today). I have bells to paint, plates to pack, and all of those last minute things to do. I have the added pressure this weekend of being "in charge" of the craft show along with my Vice President of the Las Vegas Crafters Guild Crystal. Tomorrow night ( tonight) we will be taping off spaces at the YMCA to be ready for vendors bright and early Saturday morning.

come check it out , if you get a chance!

Heavy Metal

They Are finally here!!!!

Me and one of my crafting Homies Autumn (yes I just said that) bought some Plate stands for crafts. I got mine to put my plates with Vinyl on. I LOVE them, they look better than I thought they did when we ordered them!

For some reason I had it in my head that they would just come to me through UPS or something, WRONG!! The freight company called and set up a time to deliver. Today this HUGE truck pulls up at my house with shirk wrapped boxes ( I should have taken pictures). He dropped it close to the door and I had to cut it open and bring them in the house one by one. It was like Christmas all for me :)

Some of the boxes

plates that are not done, some of the different stands we bought.

I love this one, it sits on the table or hangs on the wall

Here are some pictures, I will have to take pictures of finished plates later on, I am preparing for my Crafters Guild craft show this weekend. I have gotten a lot of work done this week,I am giving super woman a run for her money. Teaching Sabrina how to fold her own cloths helps out, it may not be pretty, but she loves to help. I better go and get busy making plates to go on my plate stands.

I should be working

But instead................ I have been playing on the Internet. I found this site called Year Book Yourself . For the past hour I have been creating funny yearbook photos ( as if the first time around was not bad enough). Here is one of me and one of Sabrina. You have to go and try it when you are putting off doing laundry, putting dishes away, sweeping etc....

Las Vegas Harvest Festival Re-cap

The Show was great, I was sooo tired after the show and tear down. Next year I will definitely need a bigger space, There was just not a lot of space for customers to get in the booth. The word from the the other vendors is that sales were down. We will just have to see what the rest of the season holds. As for right now I have several special orders to finish before the end of the week.

SOOOOO.......... I got a phone call from my best friend Amy today..... she wanted to know what happened with my car. It was the fuel pump ( or something like that) all I heard was $570.00!!!!! oh well.. you win some and you loose some. I am very thankful to have good Friends that will help me out in a pinch, Crystal let me borrow her car for two days to get home and pull my trailer.

Her e are some pictures of my booth (along with my other issues this weekend) My camera was having problems, so I had Crystal take some pictures for me. I will post them as soon as she sends them.

Harvest Festival Day One

I am sooooo TIRED!!! Why is it that if you give a crafter 12 hours to set up their booth it takes 12 hours????? On Thursday were started set-up at 7am and did not leave until just before 7p.m.
My feet and back were killing me. 10x10 does not look very big when you have all of your stuff in it. Next year I will definitely have to get a booth and a half or a double booth. Ihad to play it safe for my first time in this show.

The crowds were good today, but I heard Saturday is much better. My space is small so I am a little concerned that I may lose customers because it is sooo crowded and people will walk by because my booth is full (I saw that a little today, but they did come back later) Sometime a full both works to your advantage, people wonder what is going on, and want to get in to see:)

I did have a great response from customers, I had several people say I had the best booth there! I only had to deflate my head a little to get out the door to go home. It does make me feel great to have people acknowledge my hard work.

I took 22 Painted Ices skates and I only have five left so I was happy about that, I also sold two of my large bells out of the five I took, I was happy for that because I usually never sell the last minute items.

after such a good day, I was literally around the corner from my parents house and my car SHUTS OFF in the middle of driving and now does not start!!!!! DRAMA!! There is no doubt in my mind that the bill for fixing my car will cost what I made today down to the penny. My dad will be taking my car to get it fixed tomorrow while I am at the show, because I need it Sunday to take my trailer and load up,otherwise I will have to beg a favor from my good friend Crystal.

I forgot my Camera at my mom's house so I will have to upload some booth pictures for you tomorrow or Sunday.

wish me luck!

Harvest Festival.. Get Ready

I Am running around the house like a chicken with my head cut off, and I am really regretting my choice to take a short nap on Monday afternoon. I have so much to get done, but I had to show off some Ice skates that I have been working on. They are not finished yet I have to add glitter(surprise, surprise), but I also add Christmas Greenery inside. I have been painting Ice skates for several years now, they are always good sellers. There will be no sleep for the next couple of days. Pray for me :)

I'm a NERD and I'm not afraid to admit it

As I am sitting here painting, I am watching 90210!!!!!! 90210 was such a HUGE part of my teenage years! I feel like I should be sitting in a college lounge ( ahhhh the memories). All I Have to say is I am SCARED!!!! Have I been a way from high school this long?? Are the kids really like this??? To add to me being a Nerd, I started watching Gossip girl this summer... I think I might need to look into home school for Sabrina :) All of the drinking, drugs and sex .... what the heck! these kids are 16-17 years old! (OK, I'll get off my high horse, because I am still watchin')

Am I the only 30 something that can't kick the habit of watching teeny bopper shows? I try sooo hard not to watch them, but I get sucked in.

As if 90210 was not FABULOUS enough for one day, BUT...... The New Kids on the Block album came out. 9/2/08 will go down in history as I wanna relive my youth day!
