Thinking about Joining the Circus

Being a one-woman-show is a tough gig! I get to juggle trying to be a good mom , creating , completing orders, getting things packed to go in the mail(my least favorite job) and this time of year I won't even throw in cleaning and Laundry because it ranks so low on my "things to do" list it barely gets done. I can't complain because it's been a good day when bellies are full and the bed time story gets read. and that's everyday.
I have been super busy prepping for craft shows between getting orders finished.We had a bit of a family emergency which slowed down production a lot. I have not even been listing items in my Etsy shop daily,but I'm getting back in the drivers seat this one woman show is ready to hit the road my first stop is this weekend at the trails Village Center Artwalk in Summerlin October 23-24 10am-5pm.Located on Village center Drive across from summerlin Parkway in Las Vegas.

Candy Dance craft fair 2010

WOW, August just blew by, and I'm trying not to get left in it's dust all the creations swirling around in my head have finally came to life this past week. It's not totally my fault..I have been adjusting to being the mother of a kindergartener. it's tough finding a balance between spending family time, and I need to work on inventory for shows. I remember the days of wokring straight through breakfast lunch and dinner,but this kid insists on eating three meals a day, and can you believe constant hugs and kisses?! :)

So at the last minute the heat is on,and I had to get my last minute ideas completed,so GRANDMA TO THE RESCUE!!! last weekend my mom came over and did our laundry and took Sabrina for the weekend ( I LOVE my mom ) a creating frenzy took over my house , the kind that left my house looking like I don't know what clean is,but who cares about clean when I have my new line of glamour frames to show for it ! I took a few pictures of my favorite ones they will show up in my Etsy shop over the next week. I have a couple of new ideas in the works so come back and check them out soon.

Art in the Park 2010

So excited! got my space assignment for Art in the Park this year, I got the same Spot as last year #388 it was good luck for me last year, hopefully it will be the same this year. I've been crazy busy making sure I have lots of inventory and some brand new items that will debut at Art in the Park. so come early :)

BLING

On one of our many trips to Michael's arts and craft store, Sabrina spotted the bling flip flops, she has never worn flip flops a day in her life,but wanted to make a pair.After all of the trip and fall accidents flashed through my head I gave in a agreed to let her *bling out* a pair of her own flip flops. she had a blast Smiling the entire time telling me all of the people she wanted to show them off to. She is so proud of her little shoes she decorated. A trip to the store later on in the day brought my fears to reality,she tripped and fell all over the store,but no tears :) I guess it's like learning to walk in high heels. she picked out her outfit for church this morning,and she tried to pass the flip flops by me "momma they match"... that was a no go.

My new favorite thing

I love my new necklace I got from Just Charms and Pretty Things at a craft show this past weekend. I have been wearing it every day since then...guess what side I wear mine on??? **evil grin**

Sabrina just loves it,but guess what side she wants me to wear it on? I need to get one for her that says Nice princess/evil princess.

Not all days are crafty days

well....today was spent cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the fridge and thinking about putting clean laundry away. I have not picked up a paint brush all day although I did think about it. I flipped through the new cloth -paper-scissors Studios magazine, and it made me think about sprucing up my craft studio (which needs a whole heck of a lot more than sprucing) let's THINK back to the days when my studio was clean. I won't dare show you "now" photos.

The one semi crafty thing I did Do today is.....take pictures of Polly Pockets because it was Polly pocket picture day according to Sabrina.

tomorrow I PLAN to do something crafty and not just THINK about all the things I could be doing :)

I set up tonight for the craft show this weekend. In all of these years of doing craft shows it still amazes me that an empty room can turn into a bunch if mini stores in a matter of hours, for those of you that have never done a show those few hours can be filled with blood sweat and tears. these days there are less tears than years past. My box 'o supplies has been perfected,so I don't have to make a million trips to home depot or Walmart because some unexpected thing has popped up.

aaaaaahhhhhh set up tonight went smooth,not one mishap so hopefully it will be a good show weekend.

Etsy does Vegas!!!

I am so excited!!!!! I've been invited to join the Las Vegas Etsy team "Etsy does Vegas". Sooo excited to meet the Vegas people I see on Etsy feel like I'm meeting rock stars. I've been on the receiving end of that and theres nothing like someone coming up to me at craft shows and saying (in their happy voice) "I saw you on Etsy!!!!!

I've had some new things in the works now for a couple of weeks, and finally getting some pictures taken. Here is a picture of my Retro Family Tree canvas picture frame.

Wedding Season in full swing

AAHHH Love is in the air. I have been working on lots of canvas Picture frames as unique Wedding gifts, but I recently got a request from a bride- to- be for a gift for her parents and her new inlaws which brought about a few new frame designs. Just wanted to share a couuple pictures.

Today I atttended the Creative Painting Convention at the Riviera Here in Las Vegas. I go to the convention every year and always have a blast. One of the definate themes for the fall season was the electric flickering candle, I saw these at almost every booth, flickering candles painted with holiday patterns that would look great with any home decor. As I walked the the show floor through all of the crafty people buying everything in sight, I was trying to look at all of these great things and figure out what I was going to do that was "different and unique". When all was said and done,I didn't spend as much money as I usuually do, but I got some cool loot, I bought the usual Paint brushes to add to my stash a few pattern packets and books, a few wood pieces. Inspiration Galore I came home and got right to painting. I have a lot of new ideas for Christmas.

custom frame gift orders

In the days leading up to Valentines day I was busy finishing up gift orders. I had several custom frame orders,and for one they asked for a sunflower to be painted on it, I really like the way it turned out and plan to do a few more to add to my etsy store.




For Valentines day I took a painting break and went out with my Valentine Sabrina, and my parents. It was a great day.

Wow, It has been A while since I have posted on my blog, But being busy is good. I have been working on orders, and creating some new items, I hope to get some pictures up soon. Along with everything else I've been doing, My Mini Me has decided she wants to be an artist and create :) I can't say it diidn't make my heart smile when she said she made a pattern to make a barbie dress, she was so proud of her design,and told me several times how fashionistic it was (her words:) she wwanted me to teach her how to sew it up. she wanted to use the sewing machine,BUT I talked her into sewing it by hand. It is sooo funny that at five years old she knows it all....everything I said she said "MOMMY I KNOW" and "Momy why do you keep saying that"? I wanted to make sure she came out of this experience with all of her fingers and her eyes, shes going to need them later on in life. I took a few pictures so you could see her creation, she was so proud :)
