I Surrender! I Lost the Craft Room Wars

The other day My Friend Robbie Sent me some pictures of her NEW craft room.
All I can Say is WOW! She has definitely won the craft rooms wars. In the rest of our defense *wink* Wink* she just moved into a new house, so she was forced to go through everything ( I love a good excuse).

Check out Robbie's website Ruby Vegas Designs, there should be some new FABULOUS jewelery being added soon coming out of this new creative space.

My baby is growing up

Sabrina Went to her first gymnastics class yesterday! I was not sure how it was going to turn out. Before we left the house she said "Mommy, I think I am going to be nervous" ( how cute is that), but she did great! She is truly a social butterfly!

I sat across the room and watched her do her thing. I know that every parent has their stress about their child, and I was sooooooo worried that she was going to talk the teacher to death ( I know, I know, it would be so nice if that was as deep as our issues ever get). Most other three year olds are so much smaller than her, and typically don't talk like she does, so all I could hear was her voice talking, and talking, and talking.....and talking, But I guess she gets it honest :) Mommy loves to talk! I'm sure other kids were talking, but you know how we are as parents. She did wonderful,She listened to the teacher and tried everything, thats all I could ask for.

have a good day

Fall Craft show Season......

I SWEAR I have been more productive in the past two weeks than I have in the past several months , I guess because it is crunch time. I have a new blog that I am stalking and it is FABULOUS!!!!! I found it about a month ago and I crack up every time I read it. She is so REAL, you have to check it out, it is called crafter BS. I am not the only one doing a big pile of...... nothing :)

Since I have been so productive lately, here are some pictures of some Halloween crafts I finished. I bought these brooms last year and knew I wanted to do something with them, so I added the witches that I painted. I also made these witch boots and added some smaller witches that I painted, and I always add GLITTA!!!! Is'nt GLITTA soooo much better than glitter?

well I'm off to bed it has been a long day.

Is it my Amature Blogging Skills?

OK, I am the queen of pictures in my posts, because I am a blog stalker and I know I love to see pictures,but... is it just me? every time I add pictures to my post, all of my formatting goes crazy! it pushes everything down, whats the deal with that? Do you add all of your pics first and then start writing? is there a way to re-format the pic after it is inserted ( ex. center, right , left) or do you have to re-insert the picture.
Just thought I would ask before I post some pictures tomorrow of Halloween stuff I have been working on.

I hope someone out there can help, Thanks

We are Family

I have gotten so much done this week!!! My family has really been helping me out a lot, all of you that know my mom knows that she does every thing she can to help me with my craft business ( and only gets paid with LOVE)

Mom Pricing

My older brother James has been really helping me A LOT for the past three days he has gotten to my house at 5a.m. and worked until after 3p.m. cutting, sanding, painting, and anything else I need.

I have no shame! I will even use a three year old to get things done!

My living room is so packed with boxes, and finished product, I have to put a bell on Sabrina to make sure she does not get lost. I made a pact with myself that I would get some of those half finished projects done, and looking through some boxes I found some cute things.

I founds these cute snowman Lifesavers, I had them painted, absolutely everything was done! I was just too lazy to go out and buy the lifesavers, and they got stuck in a box?????? So went out and bought the life savers to finish them. I will be selling them at Harvest Festival so get out there and buy yours, I only have 16. I'm sure I won't be making more ( since it took over a year to get these done)

I am so excited to be debuting my newest product at the Harvest Festival, but let me take you through their journey to become finished product.

They started out as 2x4 pieces of wood, and then got cut into 2x3 blocks. The next step is sanding (see pic above).

Painting

Sanding.......AGAIN........

a little scissor action..... a little ink.. and ..... TADAHHHHH!

I LOVE stacking blocks! I try to change them every year to make them freah and fun, My goal is to get some up one my website, by the end of next week.

I have lots more new stuff that I am working on, you guys will be the fisrt to see.

Home or Craft Warehouse?

Every Year around this time, I get tired of trying to figure out where to keep finished product , and start stacking it in the living room. This year is no different and stacking has begun. My first BIG craft show for the fall 2008 season is in a couple of weeks, and I plan to be ready. I have gotten lucky this year and have not had to be a complete one woman show. My older brother James has been coming over to help me cut and sand wood. it is sooo nice to let someone else be completely saw dust covered for a change.

I have been planning to do these snowmen for two years and finally got some done, we started out with 11 ( lucky we did, my living room can't handle much more). I love them! They all stack into the large box! the only thing left to be done is to *GLITTERIZE* yes that is a word! In my crafty world everything is better with GLITTER.

I have a couple more big projects I want to finish before the craft show, but I have to also work on my booth display, and costume, YES I said costume! the Harvest Festival requires vendors to wear costumes, I am trying to come up with something simple, but says "I'm not spoiled Designs". This show has a lot of requirements and it is making me nervous. I have done my share of large juried craft shows, but I am terrified of looking like a itty bitty fish in a BIG pond.

I am making myself nervous just talking about it, I'd better go get busy.

Garment District, Heaven for Crafters

I am back from my Day trip to the Garment District in Los Angles with my Friend Autumn. We had the BEST time, There is nothing like walking streets full of fabric making each other laugh at all of the *interesting* sights. We parked the car, which is an experience in itself, you pull up and leave the keys in the car, because there are so many cars parked on top of each other, they might have to move your car if other cars need to get out.

We went to Autumns favorite Ribbon store, and luckily it was close to where we parked because we had heavy bags to put in the car. We walked and looked at the TONS of fabric, it was amazing, but in all of the fabric I did not find a lot of what I was looking for. If you are making fancy dresses and clothing from stretch fabric, you would have hit the jackpot. But I was looking for Trendy cotton fabric.

FABULOUS RIBBON

After hours of walking, off in the distance, I spotted some Alexander Henry Fabric!!! We went in the store and it was designer fabric Heaven!!!! Alexander Henry, Amy Butler, Sandi Henderson...... and then I looked at the price...... it was $8.50-$9.50 a yard, the same as quit store prices, if you bough it whole sale from them it was only a 20% discount. I was disappointed about that, but I did find a Sushi fabric that I have been looking for.

We walked and went to some more stores, If you want to haggle on prices, Autumn is the person you want with you, SHE ROCKS!!! She got me some great prices on some solid cotton fabric. She will definitely be going with me the next time I buy a new car!

We have to go back in the fall, because after all day of walking we only covered about 3 blocks!! I know there are some hidden treasure stores left for me to find!

Total Bog Neglect

I have been painting up a STORM! I am getting ready for craft shows, and trying (key word) to paint at least 8 hours a day. I got A LOT of ornaments painted!none are totally done ( they still need ribbon etc.)

between painting I have had a chance to get some fun stuff in, Friday I went to my craft buddy Autumn's house for a "play date" her kids are around the same age a Sabrina so it was fun to talk craft all day while the kids played.

Today I went to a convention with autumn to buy craft supplies, we LITERALLY walked all day from about 9am-4pm and still did not see it all.

Friday we will be going to the Garment District in LA to buy fabric and craft supplies, I am sooo excited I have only been once, and I got to see one craft store.

I Promise!! I will post more pictures this week of the stuff I am getting done :)

The scary creative mind

I Finally had to clean my "Craft Room" WARNING....what you are about to see is completely embarrassing but it must be seen soooo others will take the first step and come out of the messy craft room closet...... If there are any small children or elderly in the room please have them leave now.

LAST CHANCE........

OK, HERE GOES...............

Tornado............

AGGHHHH!!!! I told you. I swear I had to kick stuff to walk in this room. what most people don't understand, is that the "CRAFT ROOM" is not a room to do your crafts, it is the housing area for your craft supplies. I have not actually worked in this room for two years!

It is not always this messy in the craft room, but... ok there is no excuse. I am about to start painting Christmas ornaments and start crafting HARD CORE this week, and I plan on making a mess, no, not just a mess, but a MEEESSSS!! so I figure I better clean before I make a mess.

so here is a picture of the finished product, as good as it is going to get :) so you crafters out there, I am throwing out this challenge... come out of the closet.... post on your blog about your messy craft space ( not just the pretty clean pictures) send me a link. CRYSTAL... I'm Calling you out!! :)

We will save what's behind the curtain for another day.

Happy Cleaning!

A Walk Down Memory Lane

ONCE UPON A TIME..........

I was young.......

I always have fun digging through old photos, and since today is my b-day, It was fun to take a look at some of the things that got me to where I am today (wherever that is).

bet you didn't know I was a TWIN, this is a picture of me and my twin brother Randall ( OOH yeah he was a total nerd until high school)

Once upon a time........
My Mom thought that this was the perfect hair Style for picture day!?!?!?
I spared you the photos of me with about 5 BILLION beads in my hair!?!?!?!?

Once Upon a time.....
I Wore Cross Colours and thought I was cool.
(for those of you laughing right now,you remember, which means you're old too...so HA HA)

Once Upon a time.......
I wanted to be an astronaut..... I wanted to be a singer........... I wanted to be a teacher......I wanted to be a fashion designer.......I wanted to be an interior designer........I wanted to be a Professional CRAFTER.

Once Upon a time....
I wanted to Marry Brian Austin Green from Beverly Hills 90210

Once Upon a time.......
Somewhere in my crazy 15 year old brain, I told myself this was the perfect hair style for picture day... what you can't see is the round necklace with liquid inside and peace signs floating around. You would think that my Mom would have stopped me...but you saw above that she was no hair styling genius :)

Once Upon a time.......

I said " I am going to have a daughter",
of course her name was going to be Whitney Mariah (that was in my, I want to be a singer phase)
